The Mariakapel from 1936 in Wouw has a special history. The stories are, in one word, "wow". Sit down for a moment and go back in time during the liberation days of October '44. A local guide tells his stories about the chapel that are related to WWII. "For example, the Germans had laid mines around the building. During the liberation, an English tracked vehicle was blown into the air. One of the occupants sought protection in the chapel and was found alive. And then there is the story of the Coppens brothers. Two farmers who cultivated the land behind the chapel. Under the protection of the statue of Mary, they cleared the land of mines by crawling with a pitchfork to put. The collection of mines was put away next to the chapel without anything happening."
