De Moeren bij Achtmaal is a historic estate and nature reserve in the municipality of Zundert, North Brabant. The area is known for its rich history of peat extraction and its close connection to famous Dutch figures such as the poet Henriëtte Roland Holst. Location & Type: An extensive nature reserve consisting of forests, meadows, and fields, situated near the Belgian border. History: It was originally a raised bog area where peat was extracted on a large scale until the 18th century. The name 'Moeren' refers directly to this marshy peatland. Nature & Management: Together with the adjacent estates of Wallsteijn and Oude Buisse Heide, it forms a continuous nature reserve. Parts of this are managed by Natuurmonumenten.

Nice quiet area with good asphalt

The entire Markdal is beautiful to see with its changing nature, the meandering river De Mark, the wide vistas and on the edge of the Mastbos in Breda.

A beautiful route along the river, recently repaved. So it's a wonderful drive.
