The Wangermeer is just a stone's throw from the salty North Sea coast. On the northern edge of Hohenkirchen, the approximately 100-hectare freshwater lake stretches through the inland and invites you to explore. A highlight of the Wangermeer is a large island that can be reached on foot and by bike via a 325-meter-long promenade bridge. There is also a wide variety of animal species to observe here. Rare bird species have settled on the Wangermeer and fish have also found their habitat here. Hiking trails of almost 5 kilometers along multifaceted nature invite you to experience it. If you get hungry, you can take a break in the "Sturmbude" with a café, snack bar and a large sun terrace or enjoy a picnic you brought with you on one of the beautiful viewing platforms and watch the hustle and bustle of the Wangermeer. The various hiking trails on the Wangermeer are ideal for an extended hiking tour with beautiful and varied views of the nature of the Wangermeer.
