Easy path alongside the Selby Canal, a historic waterway connecting the River Ouse at Selby to the River Aire in Chapel Haddlesey.

Snaith Priory was a Benedictine priory in Snaith, within the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Howden is a market and minster town in the Vale of York, characterised by the impressive arch of the Minster's ruined chancel and the St Peter's Church.

A beautifully decorated 14th century ruin of a chancel and chapel house. The minster church is still operational. The ruin is looked after by English Heritage, but free to enter and view.

Nice tree lined country lane and way in and out of Selby.

It's a bit bumpy-lumpy in places if you're on a road bike with skinny tyres but still nice to ride. Can get a bit muddy when it's wet.

Really nice cafe with a big room upstairs that's good for groups. Can highly recommend the breakfasts, especially the smoked salmon and scrambled egg - yum.

Fantastic coffee shop with seating inside and out I decided to take away and sit in the town square just opposite A large variety of coffees and sandwiches

Beautiful spot to stop and have a drink and some food. Although be warned, it is a cash only establishment and does not accept card payments. Fortunately a very nice Dad and Daughter out for a motorbike ride were very kind and paid for a Latte.

Lovely tranquil spot for a little pleasant cuppa, cafe was closed this Monday but we had coffee with us, quite a few folk around so must be popular.

Great little cafe, very popular with cyclists.

A Grade I listed Victorian Gothic building, Carlton Towers is a beautiful historic house standing in 250 acres of farmland. The house belongs to the 18th Duke of Norfolk, although today it is mostly used for weddings and events. Carlton Towers also offers accommodation and has a 'Walled Garden Vineyard' where you can easily spend an afternoon enjoying wine in the sunshine. A quaint village , just north of Selby, Hemingbrough is worth a visit. It has a lovely 12th century church and a few shops. The town is famous for its former resident Walter of Hemingbrough who was one of the UK's earliest chroniclers. His writings, which are now in the British Museum, documented the Norman conquest.

The 6-mile long Selby Canal was opened in 1778 as the Industrial Revolution began to make way in the UK. The canal was used to transport goods, especially to York nearby. Since 1985 the canal has been user by pleasure boaters on canal holidays.

Built in 1929, the Boothferry Bridge replaced the ferry service over the River Ouse. You can walk over the bridge and enjoy views of the river as there is a pedestrian section on both sides, however cyclists have to use the normal road.
