Nestled away in the lovely Loughbrickland Forest lies a bronze age ringfort or rath. With its peaceful location surrounded by trees Coolnacran Fort has an almost mystical feel. In spring bluebells carpet the area, and you can explore the interior of the fort. The Forest also has designated walking routes throughout.

The Perfectly kept motte and bailie is placed in a bend of the Lagan River with extensive views along the valley. It is the best preserved and most impressive example in Ulster of an Anglo-Norman motte and bailey castle.

The constant rippling of the water, the passage through the lock chambers and the hustle and bustle of yesteryear are almost tangible. The exhibition tells the story of Moneypenny's Lock from its early days to the mid-20th century. Through lovingly compiled exhibits and information material, you get a feel for the importance of this place and the people who worked and lived here.
