The nature reserve is home to plants such as Turk's cap lily, common millet, and helleborine, which are specialized in poor soils, and serve as a breeding ground and refuge for birds and animals. The very rare lanceolate bellflower, found only in the Palatinate and the High Taunus, is primarily found in the Taunus in and around the Reifenberg meadows.

The Limes playground is located on a 1650 square meter meadow area between the TV tower, the Feldberghaus and the falconry. The playground was generously expanded in autumn 2022 and offers numerous play elements that recreate the Roman era, such as a Roman palisade as a climbing wall, double and nest swings, a climbing course with balancing elements and two towers connected by a suspension bridge.

The mountain rescue station on the Grosser Feldberg in the Taunus is an important rescue facility located at an altitude of 881 meters. It is one of 11 emergency services of the DRK Bergwacht Hessen and supports the rescue service around the Grosser Feldberg. The station is open every weekend and on public holidays and can be reached via the emergency number 112.
