Johann Gottfried Tulla said of his Rhine straightening project between 1817 and 1885, "As a rule, in cultivated countries, streams, rivers, and waterways should be canals, and the management of waterways should be under the control of the inhabitants." Today, we are aware of the enormous damage this caused to nature, damage that persists to this day. Nevertheless, in the current discussions about climate and nature conservation, one gets the feeling that humanity has learned nothing. Therefore, this nature reserve is a must-see.

Unfortunately, the statue was destroyed by senseless vandalism and has not yet been rebuilt.
