From small and difficult beginnings, the Neumarkt railway station has established itself over the past 150 years as an indispensable factor in the development of the city and the surrounding area. The construction of the central bus station in 1997 and the S-Bahn connection to Nuremberg in 2010 are important milestones in terms of transport importance, towards a mobility hub. In 2021, the station was made fit for the future as part of the federal railway stations emergency program. New seating was created on all platforms, and showcases and weather protection were renewed. In addition, the underpass shines in new splendor thanks to the attachment of oversized pictures with regional motifs that show the development of the city and the train station over time, and the renewal of the paint finish.
