Moderate trail for a good day out exploring this magnificent place

This tour is beautiful and highly recommended. We had a drink down in Lynmouth and went back up on the water slide. Then we went to Charly's in Lynton.

This airy section of the South West Coast Path links Lynton with the Valley of Rocks. It's a gently sloping surfaced trail which traverses under the steep slopes and cliffs, there is a steep drop on the other side down to the sea. Amazing views and great running.

A really great single track section of the South West Coast Path leading into or out of Heddon's Mouth Cleeve. Underfoot the trail is gravelly and grippy, technical but fine to run fast if you concentrate.

Down in Lynmouth, things get busy around the little harbor. There is a huge car park right next to the bridge, where the bus that goes from Ilfracombe to Minehead (open double-decker) also stops. There are numerous pubs and cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. One attraction is the Glen Lyn Gorge (near the water fountain), which is worth the entrance fee if you've had enough of the hustle and bustle.

The location is really great in a very narrow valley, hiking here is really strenuous, but it's also not easy to drive on single-lane, very steep streets. There is a large beer garden not only at the front but also at the back, it's also nice to sit inside! Here is also the large National Trust car park (£3 for 2 hours, £5 for the whole day). Parking machines don't accept card payments, but the tearooms next to the parking lot can accept card payments or even notes if, like us, you don't have the right coins.
