The view of the Kaiser Mountains is simply something special.

Lake Walchsee, at the foot of the imposing Kaiser Mountains, is not only one of the most beautiful but also one of the warmest lakes in Tyrol. This makes it a popular bathing lake and a true flagship of the Kaiserwinkl region in the Tyrolean lowlands – in fact, Lake Walchsee was even immortalized with a blue wave in the village coat of arms of the municipality of the same name. The water flows from the lake via the approximately 500-meter-long Walchseebach stream on the eastern side into the Weißenbach stream. This stream, in turn, flows via the Kohlenbach stream into the Großache stream, which empties into Lake Chiemsee near Grabenstätt.

The Ramsbach is the most important tributary of Lake Walchsee. It rises in the Chiemgau Alps in Bavaria and flows into the lake at its northwestern end.

The "Schopfenwirt," now the four-star hotel "Walchseer Hof," is a mighty inn dominating the town center. Its central floor plan, gable roof, and rich façade painting are attributed to Josef Adam Mölk. The region's typical painting, which has existed for around 250 years, derives its enormous durability from the lime plaster, which is then painted with lime paint, forming a virtually indestructible bond with the plaster. According to legend—depicted on the guild sign facing the street—the inn got its name from the innkeeper who once grabbed an unwelcome guest by the scruff of the neck and threw him out onto the street. The inn was built around 1765, remodeled in the 19th century, and added another story after a fire in 1930. From 1952 onward, the roof was expanded and several restorations were carried out.
