Beautiful little chapel invites you to linger.

Pope Benedict XVI expressed the following thought during the Stations of the Cross meditation (Good Friday 2010) in the Colosseum in Rome, which might also be of interest to those passing by here in front of this small sacred monument in the form of a wayside cross: "In the silence that surrounds Holy Saturday, we live, touched by the boundless love of God, in anticipation of the morning of the third day, the morning of the victory of God's love, the morning of light that enables the eyes of the heart to see life, difficulties, suffering in a new way. Our failures, our disappointments, our bitter experiences, where everything seems to be falling apart, are illuminated by hope. The Father confirms the act of love [of Jesus Christ] on the cross, and the radiant light of the resurrection envelops and transforms everything..." (Pope Benedict XVI)

Since the day Christ was raised on the cross, the cross – apparently a symbol of abandonment, loneliness, failure – has become a new beginning: from the depths of death rises the promise of eternal life. The small municipality of Ernsgaden is located in the north of the district of Pfaffenhofen a. i.e. Ilm. The parish church of St. Laurentius is an imposing neo-Romanesque building that was built between 1887 and 1889 on the site of a previous church. 4-part Salve Regina chime: d'-f sharp'-a'-b' The large and small bells were cast in 1963 by the Hofweber company in Regensburg. The second largest bell was made by Eduard Becker (Ingolstadt) in 1874 and the third largest was cast by Karl Czudnochowsky in Erding in 1952.
