Needle with Golden Thread On this site once stood the only mill in Schwabach's old town, dedicated to the needle-making trade and giving the Nadlersbach stream its name. At the height of the 19th century, roughly a quarter of the city's population was employed in needle production across 231 workshops and factories. The civic foundation "Unser Schwabach" (Our Schwabach) initiated a community project with Schwabach residents engaged in local history and art. Donations from this project made the realization of Klaus-LEO Drechsel's artwork possible. Source: Information panel

The sign on the Spital Church is a quote from the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:1-6): "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth."

The Schwabach Hospital was founded in 1375 by the Nuremberg citizen Hermann Rosenhart, also known as the bell founder, and his wife Elisabeth, with the support of the regional ruler, Burgrave Frederick V of Nuremberg. The first consecration of the present hospital church took place in 1404 and is dedicated to the Holy Spirit, St. Anthony, and St. Elizabeth. The church underwent several renovations in the following centuries. The hall church visible today dates from 1755/56 and was presumably designed by the margravial architect Johann David Steingruber. During these renovations, the Gothic chancel was walled up, and a pulpit was erected above the altar. These alterations were reversed in the 19th century. The current appearance of the hospital church is the result of the reconstruction work carried out after the bombing in 1941.

The Evangelical Reformed Church of Schwabach – still popularly named after its builders – was the first church to be completed during the settlement of French religious refugees in Franconia. It was built in just 14 months and consecrated on November 13, 1687. The tower, with its baroque dome and bell, was built in 1724; the clock tower was taken from the Zöllnertorturm (customs gate tower) when the city gates were demolished in 1874. During its last renovation in 1984, the church received its current color scheme. The building is as plain as a Baroque building, both inside and out, in keeping with the traditions of the Calvinist Huguenot faith. Above the entrance portal is the coat of arms of the Margraves of Ansbach, whose government had donated the previously undeveloped plot of land at the highest point in the far west of the old town to the community for the church. The church is entered from the east through a small vestibule beneath the tower. The almost square church interior itself is vaulted by a sparingly colored wooden ceiling, symbolizing Noah's Ark in the shape of an overturned ship's hull. A narrow choir gallery is located above the entrance. The first organ was installed in 1801, and the current one in 1965. Next to the simple wooden pulpit in the center of the west wall above the communion table hang two tapestries by Michel Clarveaux; embroidered in gold on a black background, they depict (left) the Lord's Prayer, the Apostles' Creed, and verses 5–6 of James 1 and verse 29 of Philippians 1, and (right) the Ten Commandments according to the Reformed system in French. Another showpiece in the church is the flag, donated to the French community by Margrave Carl Wilhelm Friedrich in 1729, bearing his coat of arms and a depiction of the Huguenot homage. The stained-glass windows depict symbolic representations of the Lord's Supper (bread and wine) and were donated in 1926 to commemorate the fallen of World War I. The Schwabach French Church is still used today by the Evangelical Reformed Congregation, which developed from the Huguenot congregation.
