A good way to get from Hallerwiese to the city center. But be careful: It's very narrow and, in good weather, it can be a nightmare!

The tram runs directly from Nuremberg Central Station to the Tiergarten, while the bus connects various transfer points to the zoo.

The Hallertürlein is a small, historic pedestrian gate in the western part of Nuremberg's Old Town. It was built around 1400 during the construction of the outer city wall and owes its name to the Hallerwiese (Haller Meadow), which lies directly outside the gate and belonged to the Nuremberg patrician family Haller von Hallerstein until 1434. Originally, the Hallertürlein was a narrow, pointed tower, also known as the "Green G." It acquired its present appearance through a reconstruction in 1519. The gate leads through the city wall north of the Pegnitz River and connects the St. Sebald district with the Hallerwiese. Immediately in front of the Hallertürlein, the Hallertor Bridge crosses the Pegnitz. To the south of the Hallertürlein, the fortifications of the Pegnitz's tributaries begin, while to the north, the Hallertor (Haller Gate) gap begins. The Hallertor itself was only built in the late 19th century to accommodate the growing traffic. The Hallertürlein is well preserved to this day and is a picturesque sight.
