The castle was originally built in the 14th century as a moated castle and has been owned by the patrician Tucher von Simmelsdorf family since 1598. The castle was rebuilt from 1830 to 1841 according to a design by Leonhard Schmidtner. It consists of a stone ground floor and a wooden framework above it, which is covered with a high half-hipped roof. The castle is located in a former pond and moat complex, which was later converted into a landscape garden in the English style.

The Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach station is the end point of the Schnaittachtalbahn, on which the RB 31 runs to Nuremberg. The station was opened in 1895 and has been an important transport hub in the region ever since. The reception building and its outbuildings are listed buildings. The station building was built as a two-storey, cuboid-shaped brick building with ashlar structure

Worth a walk inside

It would be a shame to go straight back into the valley. Better up to Oberwindsberg and on to the Lillinghof airfield. - then it's worth the effort for the better view.

The Tucherschloss is a listed building in the municipality of Simmelsdorf in the district of Nürnberger Land in Middle Franconia in Bavaria. The castle is registered as a monument in the Bavarian list of monuments under monument number D-5-74-158-1. It has been owned by the Patrician Tucher von Simmelsdorf since 1598.
