A lovely, peaceful stretch of the Oxford Canal running parallel with the River Cherwell.

Free parking is provided at Heyford Train Station for rail users only. However there are several, marked parking bays outside the boundary fence on what I took to be a public road. These too are free of charge. I got there at about 5.30pm and was able to find a space.

This beautiful park in Broughton offers serene countryside views across lush vibrant green countryside. As you run through this park you'll be treated to sights across to Broughton Castle, a magnificent medieval fortified manor house.

Great stop for coffee/food

Good views from the highpoint next to the comms tower. Can see for miles in all directions on a clear day - a good spot for a breather!

Originally built in 1300, Broughton Castle is a beautiful medieval fortified manor house surrounded by a wide moat and farmland. The house has witnessed centuries of interesting history: from hosting Kings to Civil War battles. During the 19th century, the house fell into decay until it was rescued by the 16th Baron Saye and Sele with the help of Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. In more modern history, you may recognise the house from its appearance in the film Shakespeare in Love or the TV series Keeping Up Appearances. Although the house is privately owned (by the same family since 1377), it is open to the public from April to September every Wednesday and Sunday from 2 - 5pm. Tickets for adults cost £10. This is a delightful local nature reserve managed by the Adderbury Parish Council. Once a part of the ornamental garden for Adderbury House, the lakes were neglected until local efforts to restore them in the 1980s. Today, they are a haven for wildlife. Signs on the trails around the lakes inform you of what you might be able to see and when.

Nestled in the Cherwell Valley with both the river, the Oxford Canal and the railway passing by, Lower Heyford is an easily accessible yet delightful little village. Expect lush pastures and pleasant walking in the surrounding countryside, whilst the village itself has a shop, a cafe and a superb gastropub pub, the Bell Inn.

The woodland of Everdon Stubbs is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and covers over 29 hectares, there are multiple points of entry/exit along Stubbs Road, howerver the main entrance as at this point and has a small parking area that could accomodate 8-10 cars (approximately).

Mooring for barges next to the station

Be on the lookout for muntjack deer! I have seen these here a couple of times, mainly towards the main road end of the park, near the river banks in the taller shrubs and grasses.

Lovely quiet spot just off Towcesters main Street and not far from the central shops. well maintained paths and lots of grassed areas make it a nice place to get away from the centre of Towcester.

Imposing communications mast - visible for miles around

The Domesday book records a watermill in North Aston and it remained in operation until shortly after the Second World War.
