City Lounge (Red Square), St. Gallen Switzerland's first public living room unfolds in the open air of St. Gallen's Bleicheli district. Covered in red rubber granules and illuminated by artistic light fixtures, the "City Lounge" by artist Pipilotti Rist and architect Carlos Martinez invites visitors to relax and marvel. The Bleicheli district in St. Gallen is a typical shopping and office area. The fact that people still frequent the space until late in the evening is thanks to the airy living room designed by multimedia artist Pipilotti Rist and architect Carlos Martinez. The large Red Square is furnished with sofas, chairs, tables, loungers, and a Porsche – all covered, like the ground, in a vibrant red carpet of plastic granules. During the day, children use this unusual urban landscape to play, while employees of the surrounding shops take breaks on the comfortable seating. In the evenings, light sculptures suspended like floating boulders above the square illuminate the scene, drawing young and young-at-heart people into their glow. Arbon is a municipality and the capital of the district of the same name in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. The town[7] is located on Lake Constance and is known from a tourist perspective, primarily for its old town and lakeside promenade. The castle and castle tower are considered the town's landmarks. Arbon has Roman roots and was originally called Arbor Felix (Latin for "happy tree"). Today, Arbon is the third-largest town in the canton after Frauenfeld and Kreuzlingen. Until 1997, the local communities of Arbon and Frasnacht formed the municipal community of Arbon.

A castle in Arbon was first mentioned in 720 in the history of the monastery or princely abbey of St. Gall. It stood on or near the site of the Roman fortress Arbor Felix from 250 AD (see also Arbon Castle). After Roman rule south of the Alps ended around 400, the old fortress was abandoned. Somewhat later, a Frankish castle was built in Arbon, probably for the Frankish royal family. Around 700, Arbon, and presumably the castle as well, were owned by the Bishopric of Constance, and an ecclesiastical overseer or bailiff ruled over Arbon. The oldest part of the present-day castle is an originally free-standing residential tower from the 13th century (1262). The tower may have been built on the foundations of an earlier building. The lower walls are up to 3.2 meters thick. Inside the castle are two Romanesque-style chimneys. Between 1515 and 1520, Bishop Hugo von Hohenlandenberg rebuilt the castle into its present appearance. The old tower was rebuilt into a U-shape. The top floor, the gables, and the hipped roof also date from this reconstruction. The castle's outer wall was shifted so that it stands directly over the northwest corner of the Roman fortress.

The Seerestaurant Harbor has 33 berths and offers good protection from all winds. The harbor entrance is bordered by two breakwaters that extend into the entrance.
