If walking the route I've suggested I would wear good waterproof boots and if your unsteady on your feet take poles to help balance great walk to suit all abilities

It is not so common for a Christian place of worship – which encompasses the whole of heaven – to be dedicated to “ALL SAINTS”. Usually it is one (or occasionally two) named saints who hold the patronage of a church – and thus usually also of the parish or town in which it is located. But to find the origin of such a dedication, one has to go far back in history, because the model for this practice of dedication to ALL SAINTS can be seen as a pagan custom, according to which there were already central temples in pre-Christian times that were dedicated to all deities (PANTHEON). The probably most famous Pantheon, formerly a pagan temple and now a Christian place of worship, is located in the Italian capital.

The highest point on Exmoor and Somerset offers amazing views towards Dartmoor and the Quantocks.

A great little village with an excellent pub, a couple of welcoming cafés and a shop. It's a great pit stop on a run. The six-arch stone bridge which spans the river Barle is about 100 years old.

Porlock’s name derived from its description of a “Locked Port” when the sea receded leaving a strip of rich alluvial land (much of which is now marshland) bordered by a stone ridge beach stretching across the bay. The village is a mile or so from the sea and also lies at the base of Porlock Hill, a winding road famously testing vehicles with a gradient of one in four at its steepest point. Porlock has many attractive old properties with histories of their own. Follow this short trail to appreciate their picturesque qualities, whilst we draw attention to particular features of interest.

The Church of All Saints, which sits on a hillside above Selworthy, Somerset, England, is a whitewashed 15th-century Church with a 14th-century tower. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.

Dunkery Beacon at the summit of Dunkery Hill is the highest point on Exmoor and in Somerset, England. It is also the highest point in southern England outside of Dartmoor. The sandstone hill rises to 519 metres and provides views over the surrounding moorland, the Bristol Channel, and hills up to 86 miles away.

Tucked away in the heart of Exmoor you’ll find the picturesque moorland village of Withypool. Whether it’s just a short gentle walk or trekking for the whole day, Exmoor has one of England’s most beautiful landscapes for walking. Withypool is set in the heart of Exmoor and is surrounded by walks all over the moors, along the River Barle to Landacre Bridge or Tarr Steps.

Whether you are an experienced walker or someone who prefers a short stroll, Tarr Steps is a great place to go when looking to explore Exmoor National Park. You can head straight there, utilising the on site car park and toilet facilities, with just a gentle walk down to the ancient clapper bridge. The beautiful wooded valley of the River Barle is also worth exploring for its wildlife, as is the heathland of Winsford Hill and its wild ponies in the surrounding countryside. For a short circular walk from the bridge just follow the orange way marks.

A tiny, delightful Exmoor village that still looks very original. There's the bridge, a shop/post office/museum, a tea room and a really good pub. Parking spaces are almost non-existent. So it's better to hike here than start from here!

Porlock, with its thatched cottages, rose bushes and small lanes, is a picture-perfect English village. Unfortunately, there is a lot of traffic on the narrow main street. Many places to stop for refreshments and very nice shops invite you to spend some time here.

Tarr Steps is the longest clapper bridge in all of Britain. Although the first recorded mention of this bridge dates back to the Tudor times, it may be much older. Due to river sedimentation over the years, when the river level rises significantly, it can sometimes flow over the stones.

Also known as All Saints Church, this church is listed as a Grade I building by English Heritage. This incredible medieval church is located on the slopes of Selworthy Beacon, surrounded by stunning views. Although the body of the church dates mainly from the 15th century, there are some parts that are even older, like the west tower, which is from the 14th century.

Some of the paths in Horner wood have been closed due to ash tree die back. These closures appear long term. Diversions are not marked. It affects the paths next to the stream.
