A very impressive campus, you can enjoy it and relax and also learn about the College there. Unfortunately the Chapel wasn't accessible during our visit.

Nice route into Cambridge Centre just watch out for pedestrians and cyclists as this area can get really busy during peak times and especially during school holidays.

Lj's sandwich bar in Gamblingay lovely courtyard round back to sit outside. wonderful friendly staff, so much choice of food. sandwiches, burgers, omelette, salads, chips and of course cakes.

The view over the Cam is definitely worth it, but you won't be the only one knowing this and it is almost always a bit crowded on the bridge making it a bit chaotic in combination with the traffic.

Undoubtedly the most central and most impressive college in the city. The chapel building is simply impressive. Recently the grass in front has been transformed into a flowery meadow making the view even nicer. Can be visited at certain times.

It's Queens' College, not Queen's College. Queen's College is in the other place.

Queens' College was founded in 1448 by Margaret of Anjou and refounded in 1465 by the rival queen Elizabeth Woodville. This dual foundation is reflected in its orthography: Queens', not Queen's, although the full name is "The Queen's College of St Margaret and St Bernard, commonly called Queens' College, in the University of Cambridge".[6][7] In 1446 Andrew Dokett obtained a charter from Henry VI to found St Bernard's College, on a site now part of St Catharine's College. A year later the charter was revoked and Dokett obtained a new charter from the king to found St Bernard's College on the present site of Old Court and Cloister Court. In 1448 Queen Margaret received from her husband, King Henry VI, the lands of St Bernard's College to build a new college to be called "Queen's College of St Margaret and St Bernard". The site of what is now the College was once home to a monastic house, a “Hospital of St John”, which was in existence from at least the early 13th century. By the start of the 16th century, however, this had fallen into disrepair. It came to the attention of Bishop John Fisher, Chancellor of the University and a friend of Lady Margaret Beaufort, the mother of King Henry VII. Fisher persuaded her to build a college in place of the old hospital. Although Lady Margaret died in 1509, the foundation of the College went ahead two years later, in 1511. Originally, all of the necessary accommodation was focused around a single court, which included a Dining Hall and Kitchen, Chapel, Library, and rooms for Fellows and students. By 1545, there were 152 Fellows and scholars subsisting in this environment. Over the centuries, the College gradually expanded. Second Court was built in 1599-1601, and a magnificent library (now the Old Library) was added in 1624-8. By the mid-19th century, the College had expanded across the River Cam, with the construction of its famous Bridge of Sighs and New Court (1826-31). Its great Chapel, familiar from any cityscape of Cambridge, was designed by George Gilbert Scott in 1863-9. During the 20th Century, more courts were added, on the north side of the College, and further to the west across the river. The building and refurbishment of St John’s has continued into the modern era. In 2012, the refurbished Old Divinity School opposite the Great Gate opened for use, following an extensive project that illuminated its dark, Victorian interior and created new facilities for teaching, lectures, and theatre. Over the centuries, the pattern of studies and undergraduate life has changed with the times. Originally a seminary focused chiefly on the liberal arts, theology, and the biblical languages, St John’s gradually became a centre for the study of classics and mathematics, and in the 20th century for other subjects in the humanities, medicine and the sciences. I'm using this route on the ride from Wootton to Sandy via Danish Camp. It's got a bit of everything, I like it.

Great peaceful place to make a stop on your ride for coffee or drink.

Great little cafe serving tasty food and Coffee.

Best view is of the gatehouse tower at the end of King’s Parade, by the Senate House and Great St Mary’s Church.

If you're visiting Cambridge for the first time, this is one of the quintessential views of the river Cam. You'll see plenty of punting boats on the river.
