A nice place to rest A stop is worthwhile! Very nice service! The climb up the tower is worth it! The ascent for adults costs 1€ and children 50 cents!

Beautiful place for a break. Several outdoor benches with great views. The chapel itself is well furnished, the altar is worth seeing and the story of St. Hubertus is also laminated out.

Good food, promising paths and little altitude speak for the Escheck pass between Basler and Schützenbachtal. However, it can get crowded here. Top destinations that can be easily reached from here are: Stöcklewaldkopf (1067m; hiking home and observation tower with a view of the Alps) Martinskapelle / Brend: Source of the Danube, extensive, attractive hiking area and enjoy one of the most beautiful views in the Black Forest from the Brend Tower, several places to stop for refreshments with good food

Saint Hubertus, to whom the chapel in or near Schönwald is consecrated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, best known as the patron saint of hunters. A deer with a glowing cross between the antlers is said to have appeared to him, which is often shown on Hubertus portraits. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustachius and over time it 'wandered' to Hubertus. His feast day in the saints calendar is November 3rd.

Very nicely restored. The former large courtyards are no longer there. Only the chapel. You can also get married there. Register at the Schönwald registry office.

So don't go there Monday and Tuesday. The tower and restaurant are not open then. At the moment a bit limited due to Corona, but it's okay again.
