This is a beautiful paved country lane that travels alongside the picturesque Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve. There is a bridleway and entrance close to this point where you can access and explore the area.

Now re-opened after a fire which destroyed their cellar. They have draught cider, lager and Guinness. The bitters are in bottles, for now.

Although the building you see dates back to 1860, it is not the original one, as a medieval guildhall stood on this site from 1612. This guildhall was demolished to construct the current building due to the significant industrial growth that Wokingham experienced in the mid-19th century. It currently houses the Wokingham Town Council and is designated as a Grade II listed building. You can find a Wokingham Society Historic Blue Plaque here.

This beautiful building, opened in the mid-1860s, replaces the old 16th-century guildhall that once occupied this location, which was demolished in 1858. There is evidence that the first town hall was located in a clockhouse right here in the Market Place, which was later replaced by the guildhall. This building is also part of the Wokingham Society's Blue Plaque Trail.

It is at New Mill, Lower Common on the River Blackwater. There used to be a very good restaurant here about 10 years ago.

Another good place to finish a ride. One of three local "Bulls". The others are at Barkham (about a mile away) and Riseley. This one has just reopened and is run by the people who run Jackson's Café at California Country Park (see other rides and highlights).

The road crosses the Blackwater river through a ford, which is often impractical for bicycles as the water level is a little too high. The footbridge is a great alternative and, while narrow, it allows dry and safe passage across the watercourse. Be careful if approaching from the south side of the river as there's a bend on the road and there is gravel on the road which makes it very slippery and dangerous if approached at speed.

Located just off Arborfield Cross, Lockey Farm has an adjoining café that is perfectly located for a coffee and cake stop. As we got there in the early afternoon on a Sunday, the selection of cakes was a little thin, but since I had been eating sugars all morning the bacon and egg roll was actually a most welcome break for my stomach. Not to mention how friendly and nice the shop waiters were: as we had discussed a sign for hot chocolate with the waiter who was making our coffees, we found two complimentary cups of hot chocolate with whipped cream when our tray reached the table! 🏆 Prices are reasonable and there is a nice enclosed back garden where bikes can be safely left, as well as tables outdoors at the back of the shop for warmer days.
