The former city prison of Tulln was opened on the occasion of Egon Schiele's 100th birthday in 1990 as the first museum dedicated exclusively to the life and work of Egon Schiele. The approximately 6,000 visitors to date come from all over the world to get a proverbial picture of Egon Schiele's artistic beginnings. The partially preserved prison cells pose a challenge in terms of exhibition design, but at the same time they contribute to the museum's distinctive ambience. A specially set up studio on the top floor allows guests of all ages to not only look at pictures, but also create pictures.
