There are lots of birds on the reservoirs to enjoy. in addition, the reed beds are full of warblers and reed buntings at this time of year.

Sat here during Storm Bert, it was out of the wind, nice view looking down the canal, if your lucky you might even get a little boat action! 😊

This is a lovely trail that travels between the Grand Union Canal and Startop's End Reservoir via a green walkway. In the area you'll find sitting benches, beautiful grasslands and riverboats. Additionally a nearby birdwatching hide provides an excellent opportunity to observe local wildlife.

Lock 45, at the entrance to the Wendover arm of the GUC has a dry dock and boat repair shop.

Away from the main paths and easily missed. Set in a woodland meadow it has many wooden carved animals and wooden play areas

And then she meets a fox, an owl and a snake, all of whom invite her to their homes very warmly and certainly without any ulterior motives. Fortunately, the little mouse is not stupid. And so she politely but firmly declines the invitations - because she already has a date: with the Gruffalo! He has terrible claws, teeth, tusks and paws and loves to eat fox skewers, snake puree or owls with icing. No wonder that the would-be hosts make a hasty getaway. And the mouse is having a great time, because she just invented the Gruffalo! Or maybe not?? A wonderfully rhymed read-aloud at its finest, which with lots of imagination, wit and hidden meaning will delight not only children from around 5 years of age.
