Flaunden is a charming village nestled in the rolling hills and picturesque countryside of the Chiltern Hills. The village is home to two quintessential country pubs, The Green Dragon and Bricklayer's Arms, as well as a traditional church and village hall.

Sidetrack from this route and visit one of the most beautiful Spanish Chestnut trees I have ever seen. Humongous, unique and captivating!

This is a delightful stretch of woodland on the Hertfordshire Way long-distance trail. A walk here can be linked with neighbouring beauty spots, such as Chipperfield Common, which boasts five ponds and eight ancient sweet chestnut trees. There are plenty of nearby villages to seek post-hike refreshment.

The large village of Bovingdon has many amenities and places to eat and drink if you are hiking in the region. It is on the route of the Hertfordshire Way long-distance trail and lies just beyond the eastern edge of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its St Lawrence Church is a fine sight, while the village is also notable for its Second World War airbase, which is used for filming and leisure purposes these days.

Bourne End enjoys a lovely waterside setting, with both the Grand Union Canal and the River Bullbourne passing through the village. It is on the route of the former Roman road of Akeman Street, as well as the Hertfordshire Way long-distance trail. There are a trio of pubs and a couple of hotels in the area.
