Edwardian country home of playwright, politician and philosopher George Bernard Shaw, with Arts and Crafts features and collection and a Tranquil garden with rolling lawns, vibrant summer borders, a fruit orchard and Shaw’s iconic rotating writing hut. Welwyn is a village and civil parish in Hertfordshire, England. The parish also includes the villages of Digswell and Oaklands. It is sometimes referred to as Old Welwyn or Welwyn Village, to distinguish it from the much newer and larger settlement of Welwyn Garden City, about a mile to the south. There are good quality pubs and restaurants in the village, the Wellington has a date of 1352 on the front.

A local landowner once destroyed the original Ayot St Lawrence Church, because it obstructed the view from his home. He had the church rebuilt, with the hope to have it resemble a temple to Apollo.

Stocking Spring Woods is situated between the villages of Ayot St Peter's and Ayot St Lawrence in Hertfordshire. It's a beautiful place to walk through, especially in springtime, when you can enjoy a stunning display of bluebells.
