A brilliant pub with great food on a really nice off-road route through this areas. Definitely worth the ride and stop to “rehydrate” and refuel. The tables outside are great for stopping, getting off the bike and recapping the ride.

Scenic road through scenic countryside. Road is quite narrow and just east of East End the surface has collapsed leaving the road flooded by the adjacent stream and strewn with loose stones, so go easy into the blind corners.

Great stretch. Small quiet lanes. From Maggots it's a long climb to start. Beware large and very (too) fast farm vehicles.

Ensure you stop off at the Woodman Pub, which is almost adjacent to the old 8th airforce airfield at Nuthampstead. The Woodman pub is an excellent stop and littered with history pertaining to the American aircrews who flew from there during WW2. At the back of the pub is the airfield museum which is definitely worth a visit.

Nice glide down towards Ford. Ride through but careful of the gaps in road.

Nice descent towards Cromer with a swinging right / left double corner which you can take flat out with the right line (but stay on your own side of the road in case of oncoming traffic around the bend).

Great bends and changes in gradient but beware of concealed driveways and, if going north, a straight descent ending at a T junction means you need to be ready with the brakes.

Absolutely gorgeous bit of road, as is the whole road from Great Hormead and the Pelhams through Anstey, some of my absolute favourite roads within reach of London and huge fun when heading north towards Cambridge - it's then a false flat downhill and you can really put your head down and have fun. Just keen enough in the legs for the drag up to great Chishill that comes right after though!

If heading northbound, you can really turn the afterburners on and take this as fast as you like. Obviously use caution looking out for oncoming cars and innocent bystanders.

Lots of mud on the road at the moment and some pretty big puddles (hiding who knows what) but beautiful quiet roads...

There is a sign stating that "cyclist's" (sic) are to use the foot bridge.

Heading westbound over the open fields between Sheepcote Lane and East End is not for the faint of heart, uphill most of the way and no matter the weather, the wind is always blowing a gale in your face.

The windmill has stood for nearly 800 years now as determined by a dendrochronological survey conducted in 1998. First built in 1681, this windmill has been restored and put back to work! It's the country's only surviving windmill. You can visit it for just £2 but it's not open to the public very often. 2.30pm to 5.00pm on Sundays and the odd Saturday during summer, check cromerwindmill.co.uk for exact dates.
