At the Vilser Jöchle, the trails towards Sebenalpe, Brentenjoch, and Vilseralm diverge at 1,750 meters. There's also a magnificent view from up here.

Good thing there are no controls

In 1904, the company began mining valuable rock layers from the Jurassic period in Falltal. At that time, the raw material was transported to the factory in Vils using horse-drawn carts. From 1909, a cable car took over the two-kilometer-long transport from the quarries to Vils. You don't often see something like this, but here you can see everything up close - an interesting chapter in the region's industrial history!

"This border relic from earlier times is probably no longer valid today" 😉. It is an official sign and must therefore be observed 😉. I always find it interesting when you are confronted with a green border and it reminds you that the next step will take you into a different country. Usually you don't even notice it consciously. For me, this is a very beautiful route along the Vils from Pfronten-Steinach to Vils (or vice versa). In addition to several bike tours along this route, I was also able to complete this year's Wings for Life World Run here. Simply great. Shortly before the border crossing, which you cross through a mini labyrinth, there is a small chapel on the side of the road on the German side. Furthermore, if you look up, you can see the Falkenstein ruins and the Breitenberg on the opposite side of the valley. Sometimes you can also see numerous paragliders ("Flieger, greet the sun", "Above the clouds...")😎.
