A quieter side of the Devils Punchbowl, you're away from the crowds and can enjoy the maze of paths.

A gentler way to climb up to the National Trust cafe area from the bottom of the bowl instead of climbing up the more well used main higher path.

Proof of the power of nature can be seen right here on the site of the old A3. Until 2011, the A3 bottlenecked at Hindhead, going from two lanes to one. There was always traffic, air pollution was high there was a significant number of accidents. The Hindhead Tunnel was dug to allow the road to continue as a dual carriageway. Even in the short time since the tunnel opened the difference is incredible. Running along here it is hard to imagine traffic crawling along the way.

The Temple of the Four Winds was once part of the Witley Estate and would have been the venue for lavish hunting parties. It was demolished in 1966 and was lost to history until a group of National Trust volunteers cut back all the overgrowth to reveal the base and wonderful views.

Hankley is wide open and from this point here you can see all across the common.

One of the highest points around, on a clear day you can see London.

Quiet spot offering great views. Always be mindful that mountain biking is sensitive in this area. As a local, I wouldn't want the privilege to be taken away.

Bridleway under the cover of the trees, it connects the Punchbowl viewing area to the quieter side away from the crowds.
