This is one seriously tough climb. Mixed surfaces (grass, rocks, gravel, mud) but nothing too tricky in dry conditions. A few very steep sections, and a couple of badly positioned gates (on the steep sections!), make this very challenging indeed. One of those climbs where the combo of gradient and terrain made it impossible to change position on the bike, hence it was a bit of a back breaker. The views to the south and west from the top are fantastic.

Really good local XC for all abilities. All weather flat out XC fun

There are two well marked routes which keep bikes & walkers well apart: Nova is blue about 4.5 miles through the woods. Super Nova is red. It follows the same route with some extra loops making it just over 5 miles. Keep your eyes open for small diversions off Nova to mini jumps for Super. The only real “red” challenge is right at the end, with four 18 inch rock drops in a row on a downhill that ends in a big berm.

Great way to come off the Mendips. Rocky and rooty in spots but nothing difficult. Good way to go down but not sure about up.

Great views back towards Long Ashton too

A super fun descent off Cadbury Camp that's narrow singletrack. It's rough, but not overly technical, so some good skills are still required here. It's a shared trail, so be mindful of hikers and other trail users.

Leigh Woods is a beautiful woodland area and a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers alike, offering stunning views of the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. The woods are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and badgers. There are also a number of interesting historical features to be found, such as the remains of a Roman villa and a 17th-century ironworks. It is a great place to visit for a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike. There are a number of different trails to choose from, ranging in difficulty from easy to moderate. The woods are also a great place to take a picnic or have a barbecue, with plenty of spots to choose from.

Fantastic alternative route if you want to keep away from busy roads.

This is the bridleway trail that separates Dolebury Warren (the old hill fort) to the north and Rowberrow Warren woodland to the south. The trail is wide most of the way along but quite rocky and a bit rutted in places. It's fun in both directions and can be ridden quite fast. It's well used by walkers, runners and sometimes horses though so watch out.

Great views from the ridge between Beacon Batch and the edge of Rowberrow Warren. Looking north you can see up towards Bristol and out to the sea west. South if you go back over the ridge is over Cheddar and the Somerset Levels.

Great trail from Beacon Batch summit to the B3134 road at the top of Burrington Combe. In descent, it's fast and fairly open, although the trails are quite rocky with some ruts. It's a great ascent, long enough to be challenging and with some fun technical bits but very achievable.

The rockiest part of this is heading west directly before and after the hillfort. Everything else is a delight, especially the bridge to that hill over clevedon
