Lovely old small church in a delightful Worcestershire village.

Nice little kicker. Mind the relatively busy road and blind crest though!

This is one of England's tallest remaining maypoles. It is a striped pole that stands over 20 metres high. It has been present since the days of Shakespeare, and its original incarnation was made of wood (until it was struck by lightning and destroyed). The current pole is made of aluminium and is officially a Grade II historical monument listed by English Heritage.

Small hill with nice views of Cotswolds/Welford. The road surface is pretty bad in Welford direction but gets significantly better as approaches Long Marston.

wildlife can be spotted in these fields if you are quiet and patient enough, you can catch a baby deer hopping around

Bidford-on-Avon River Bridge was built in the early 15th Century and is located over the River Avon. The former packhorse structure is constructed from coursed blue lias, limestone and other stones, with some brick patching on the upstream elevation. The scheduled ancient monument and listed building consists of eight masonry stone arches, with cutwaters on the east side only. The bridge provides one navigable channel to vessels on the River Avon watercourse. The first, second, sixth and seventh arches from Bidford side are believed to be of original construction. The parapet has almost wholly been renewed. Believed to have been built by the monks of Bordesley Abbey the bridge has been repaired in 1449, 1545 with stone from Alcester Priory, and major repairs undertaken in 1641 and 1650. The central arch was heightened in the late 18th Century when the Avon was made navigable up to Stratford, although this is not the current navigable channel.

My tip is......Don't start this walk from here. The original route on Komoot showed the start point as being at 'the bus station'. There isn't a bus station and there isn't any parking. This was the best, safest and nearest spot I could find. A small cut in outside the sewage treatment works 😳 I would recommend starting at Dorothy's Wood at the other end of this walk. There is a car park there that asks for donations rather than charging for parking. And it doesn't close until 9pm.
