6월 20, 2025, Greyfield Wood Waterfall
We walked this route in June 2025 and there was so much vegetation near the waterfall and further along the route that we had to improvise the route. Otherwise it is a beautiful route with a lot of variety.

9월 25, 2024, Timsbury Basin
Timsbury basin is one of the remnants of the old Somerset Coal Canal. This is where the canal began, flowing from here down to the Kennet and Avon canal near Bath. The canal isn't complete, but you can trace the route starting with these ponds.

9월 17, 2023, Litton Reservoirs
The lower and upper Litton reservoirs were built in the 1850 s by the Bristol Waterworks Company. Today it's a peaceful place for a walk. Watch out for the wide variety of insects and birds who live here.

Either of these will work as quieter entrances to Paulton. It's on a hill so it's a down-and-up any way you slice it.

6월 8, 2021, View of Chew Valley from Hinton Blewett
Just outside the village of Hinton Blewett and on the Limestone Link footpath, pause at the bench here to enjoy the excellent views across the countryside. Patchwork fields, big skies and distant hills make this a wonderful snack stop on a clear day. The viewpoint looks north west across the Chew Valley and you can glimpse the edge of the Mendip Hills due west.

Lovely but muddy after rain. You are basically walking in the stream, in places.

3월 24, 2021, Smitham Chimney
A relic of the Mendip Hills industrial past. The Cornish-style chimney survived when the site closed in 1875 and was saved from complete destruction in 1973 by The Mendip Society and Somerset County Council. In front of the Chimney there is a pond where you can see dragonflies in the summer months. There are also fine views of the Chew Valley from the grassland area nearby. The project to improve the area around the chimney is a partnership between Forestry England, the Mendip Society, the Mendip Hill AONB Unit, Countryside Agency and Aggregate Industries.

3월 24, 2021, Combe Hay Aqueduct
A very unusual aqueduct, completed in 1851. It is formed from wrought iron tubes on top of limestone piers. It is still in use, part of a network of aqueducts and tunnels feeding the Valley’s spring water to Bristol. It is thought to be the oldest surviving example of this type of engineering in existence and, in order to preserve it, was listed by English Heritage in 1989.

3월 24, 2021, Harptree Combe
Harptree Combe – a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). In contrast to the conifers of East Harptree Woods, this area contains deciduous oak and ash woodland, with old hazel coppice and rough, marshy grassland. Steep limestone walls rise on both sides, with tiny caves visible in the rock face. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) to protect the flora and fauna that thrive in its old ash woodland, rocky crags and rough grassland.
