5월 18, 2025, Nymphaeum of Jerash
The Nymphaeum in Jerash, Jordan, is an elegant and well-preserved ancient Roman fountain dedicated to the water nymphs. Constructed around 191 AD, it served as a major source of water for the city, supplementing smaller public fountains. This monumental structure is a highlight of the ancient city of Jerash, showcasing the architectural and cultural richness of the Roman period. The Nymphaeum was originally a two-story construction, elaborately decorated with marble facings on the lower level, painted plaster on the upper level, and topped with a half-dome. Water cascaded through seven carved lion's heads into a large basin. The fountain is framed by finely sculpted Corinthian columns, and a pink-granite basin, likely added by the Byzantines, sits at its foot. Today, visitors can explore the site and marvel at the splendor of the Nymphaeum, imagining its majesty in its prime. The well-preserved structure offers a glimpse into the daily life and culture of the ancient Roman city of Jerash, allowing one to appreciate the artistry and engineering of the time. 1월 26, 2025, Qasr al-Bint Temple, Petra
The wooden parts that were used to build it provide a "suspension" and the building has been able to withstand many earthquakes and is still standing - the main god of the Nabataeans was worshipped here

3월 20, 2024, Back Door Trail to Petra
You can take the jeep for 5 JOD or not because the start of the trail is also pretty and allows you to observe mountains, Bedouin tents and herds before starting the climb towards the monastery. There is now also a shuttle to the place where there are the restaurants (walk a little towards the "back entrance" road to find it, but be careful it is not very frequent and stops 15 minutes at a “craft village” before reaching the main entrance.

It is impressive what earlier civilizations were able to achieve. You should also go inside and marvel at the size and acoustics.

11월 28, 2023, The Siq (Petra)
The main entrance to ancient Petra leads through the Siq, a narrow, 1.2-kilometer (745-mile) long gorge in the sandstone formation. The Wadi Musa riverbed once ran here; this can lead to seasonal flash floods in winter, both then and now. To mitigate this danger, the Nabataeans built a comprehensive water management system, which has been partially repaired in recent decades to minimize the risk of flash floods after heavy rains in the region. In the final section of the gorge, 'Al-Khazneh' (The Treasury) becomes visible. This is Petra's most famous landmark. https://nabataea.net/explore/cities_and_sites/the-siq-thaniya/ https://www.cultech.net/flash-floods
