Always good a short break with a view

The Henrietta Chapel in Hirschwang an der Rax was built at the end of the 19th century and is dedicated to Duchess Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg. This small church is picturesquely situated on the edge of the forest and is a quiet place of contemplation. A lovely destination for a short detour, it combines history and nature in an atmospheric way.

At the Preinerwand Cross (1,783 m), you reach one of the most striking vantage points in the Rax. From here, the view extends far over the Vienna Basin, the surrounding valleys, and, on a clear day, all the way to the peaks of the Alps. An impressive spot that rewards the climb with an unforgettable panorama.

The Rax Mountain Inn is located right next to the mountain station of the Rax cable car and is a popular starting point for hikes on the Rax Plateau. On the sun terrace, you can enjoy regional specialties while taking in the views of the Vienna Basin and the surrounding peaks. It's an ideal starting point or rest stop before continuing on into the mountains.

The Otto-Haus on the Rax (1,640 m) is one of the most traditional huts in Vienna's local mountains. It offers a cozy stop with regional delicacies and a large sun terrace. From here, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama across the Rax plateau to the peaks of the surrounding Alps—a perfect starting point or rest stop for your tour.

A nice trail through the forest, but surefootedness is still required; it's quite steep. A rope is provided for stopping throughout the more difficult section. No sandals, toddlers, or strollers recommended!
