The former Bethlehem Church in Witzhave has transformed from a traditional religious building into a vibrant cultural center. Consecrated in 1968, the church was deconsecrated in 2013 when the Trittau parish had to abandon it due to financial constraints. The municipality of Witzhave subsequently purchased the building to preserve it as a cultural hub. The building is part of a systematic "chapel building program" implemented in Schleswig-Holstein during the 1960s. Architect Brigitte Eckert-von Holst designed this functional type of chapel, specifically intended for growing villages without their own church. Instead of traditional Sunday services, the chapel now hosts concerts, readings, exhibitions, and even film screenings.
