Another good Downham cafe

Very pretty market square and great place for a cafe stop

I went very early spring and it was quite pretty, interesting for the ride, certainly stopped the wind cutting across the fields

Along the River Nene is this quiet straight lane running from Sutton Bridge to the junction of the Nene and the North Level Main Drain. The Nene is the tenth-longest river in the UK, and is navigable for 88 miles (142 km), from Northampton to The Wash.

This is an excellent segregated traffic-free cycle path between Sutton Bridge and Kings Lynn. Look out for the type 22 hexagonal pillbox with integral entrance porch from WW2.

Cross Keys Bridge is a grade II listed swing bridge at Sutton Bridge which spans the tidal River Nene. It's the only crossing point for both traffic, pedestrians and cyclists over the river north of the Wisbech, 9 miles (14.5 km) to the south. For this reason it's a notorious bottleneck for vehicles. On the north side is a separate bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, with expansive views over the tidal Nene.

Downham Market is one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns. It lies on the banks of the River Great Ouse, and dates back to Saxon times. The market place is known for its unusual and iconic black and white clock.

March is located on the banks of the navigable old course of the River Nene, which is populated by narrow boats and pleasure craft.

Quintessential little English church in the friendly village of Gorefield near Wisbech. The church is Grade II listed and boasts a lovely green well-maintained garden.

The cage at Parson Drove plays a keys role in the villages history. It was built in 1816 as a local overnight lockup for local criminals and stray livestock, and since then it has been used as a fire station, police station, and visitor's centre.

Enjoy a beautiful section of cycling along Trinity Road. To your left you'll find perfect rows of planted trees, and to your right, endless expanses of neat farmland.

The town has many historic buildings, antique shops and lots of places to eat and drink.

Retaining an intimate feel, the town has many historic buildings, boutiques, antique shops, lots of places to eat and drink and some accommodation. Every Friday and Saturday, there is a bustling market.

The surface is fine for road bikes. Gorgeous little route.
