Fantastic views over Cambridgeshire

This is actually a section of the Icknield Way but I agree, it is a fun downhill section.

This is a long, straight off-road path with changing surfaces (gravel, singletrack) between Ashwell and Melbourn, which is part of the Icknield Way. It is not particularly scenic, but you can get that continuing westward toward Letchworth.

Loved this section. Chalky dry and fast!

No mud in the summer months but plenty of fun on the descent. :)

The view over the Cam is definitely worth it, but you won't be the only one knowing this and it is almost always a bit crowded on the bridge making it a bit chaotic in combination with the traffic.

Scenic yes, but I do not recall any gravel. It did tend to be quite muddy in parts in late-October.

A narrow shared-use path. Fine for bike touring, avoid for road cycling.

The church dates from the 13th century. Local legend claims that silver bells from the church tower were hidden in an underground passageway which ran between the church, the Old Vicarage and the Crown House Hotel to keep them safe from government soldiers. They have never been found, although some traces of the passageway have been uncovered. A nice quiet spot for a break.

If you're visiting Cambridge for the first time, this is one of the quintessential views of the river Cam. You'll see plenty of punting boats on the river.

A tough little climb if you're coming from the north, lasting about 1km with maximum gradients of 12%. If you're going down the other way, this is a really fun downhill section and you can pick up quite a bit of speed!

Riding down here in September, the field is edged with mature apple trees laden with fruit, as well as brambles and sloe berries.

Great straight route, quite bumpy, alot divets. Ideal if you suspension to soak up the bumbs

Go slow. Steep bridge and lots of tourists and cyclists.

Follow the track from Ermine Street and turn left immediately before the railway bridge. The first part of the track is quite rough and can be muddy, so care needed, but it soon levels out for a great ride to Ashwell.

Going through the grain store is bizarre and fantastic! Would recommend on some big volume tyres. Stones are a bit big for comfortable gravel riding.
