Nice spot for a quiet rest as I cycle the country lanes into and out of Chester.

Only open at weekends - but the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon!

It's nice to ride along the canal but he surface is quite bumpy and loose gravel. Luckily I have Gatorskins tyres on my bike but would recommend hybrid, gravel or mtb for this area of path

Decent little climb no to bad and only around 2-3km surroundings are beautiful god road surface. Take you time and enjoy.

Beeston Castle is a former Royal castle in Beeston, Cheshire, England, perched on a rocky sandstone crag 350 feet above the Cheshire Plain. It was built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, on his return from the Crusades.

Peckforton Castle is a Victorian country house built in the style of a medieval castle. It stands in woodland at the north end of Peckforton Hills one mile (2 km) northwest of the village of Peckforton, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. The house was built in the middle of the 19th century as a family home for John Tollemache, a wealthy Cheshire landowner, estate manager, and member of parliament. It was designed by Anthony Salvin in the Gothic style. During the Second World War it was used as a hostel for physically disabled children.

Lovely place for a quick stop...there's always plenty of birdlife on or around the pond. The ducks generally boss the place,so don't mess with them :-)

A brilliant place to stop mid ride. The area is safe, there's plenty of seating and places to lock a bike up, and the coffee and food are delicious. Tarporley is a beautiful place to sit and watch everything go by for a while

Great place to stop, especially on a sunny day. Lots of parking and places to leave your bike

Gorgeous route on perfect tarmac. The view of the castle gives good perspective on how far you've gone/still have left to go.

Can't really miss the sight of Peckforton. Not a 'real' castle like Beeston as such, but still impressive

nice view to the surrounding area. the route to the castle not suitable for a road bike, you may need to carry your bike on some parts

English Heritage maintained castle ruins sitting high on top of the hill. Like so much in the area it was destroyed in the Civil War.

There is no charge to enter the Ice Cream Farm if just buying ice cream

A great refuelling spot in the centre of Tarporley. Plenty of space outside to leave your bike. Good coffee and cakes - the oatcakes are pretty good too. Service can be a bit slow when busy around late morning and lunchtimes if you are looking for a quick pitstop, otherwise a must stop.

For a country graveyards rest on a bench. Good for a quiet place to have a picnic rest.

In that is is a landmark and therefore useful in navigation.
