It's an easy to walk Canal Path,it stretches from Ellesmere Port to Chester, Ellesmere Port has a nice Boat Museum, and a friendly café

Nice spot for a quiet rest as I cycle the country lanes into and out of Chester.

It can get a little busy and is narrow in places. Just take it easy and be respectful.

Good views onto the Chester Racecourse from NCN 568. The racecourse, known as Roodee, is the oldest racecourse still in operation.

It's nice to ride along the canal but he surface is quite bumpy and loose gravel. Luckily I have Gatorskins tyres on my bike but would recommend hybrid, gravel or mtb for this area of path

Established in 1539, Chester is the oldest racecourse still in operation in the world. The racecourse has consistently been awarded the Gold Standard Award by the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) since the award’s inception and was awarded the prestigious title of Large Racecourse of the Year, when the award was launched in 2015 and again in 2018 and 2019. There is a good cycle path around the racecourse, and when there are no races, you can walk around and take your dog on there.

Grosvenor Park is a nice, tidy park with many decorative features. Very popular with dog walkers and tourists. There are many squirrels that like to be fed, these will run up your leg for food

Standing on the Old Dee Bridge you can see the water flowing over the submerged dam. Behind the dam there are pleasure boats taking people on trips, as well as communal seating & cafes

Plenty of different places around Chester to stop and rest by the Dee whilst on a cycle ride or walk. Alongside the Groves area there's plenty of choices for refreshments and toilets

Lovely views of the River Dee and once crossed over into Handbridge you can easily walk to,and around, The Meadows area for a further walk alongside the River Dee

Lovely place for a quick stop...there's always plenty of birdlife on or around the pond. The ducks generally boss the place,so don't mess with them :-)
