I also cycled from Wiggenbach once in winter. Before you go, find out what the Kürnachtal valley looks like and when it last snowed. My ride into the Kürnachtal valley was already a bit of a challenge because it's steep and the stream keeps getting colder. I enjoy the cold in summer and have been here several times.

In summer, it's shady and cool, and there are two places where you can do Kneipp therapy and relax your sore feet.

I agree with Alois. I cycled on a Sunday so there was no truck traffic. On the other hand, I encountered a lot of cars at times; in Wegscheidel, I stopped because there was a whole line of cars coming. The route to Schmidsfelden was never really quiet. It's much more pleasant via Kreuzthal.

It gets steeper, but it's still a long way to go until you actually reach the top. Both towards Hellengerst and towards Osterhofen and Weitnau.
