One of Norfolk's signature round tower churches.

Authentically restored heritage railway station - you get a great view from the adjacent road bridge. Appeared in Dad's Army as Walmington-on-Sea station.

The ruins show just how large this place was in its heyday. The small remaining part now forms a fairly large parish church.

Nice spot to stop for a snack and a rest but plenty to learn too, if you find time to read the information boards.

2024 closed for conservation but can be viewed.

Binham Priory is a ruined Benedictine priory that was founded in the late 11th Century. The nave of the priory church has become the Church of St. Mary and is still in use today. It's an incredibly peaceful place to take a break in the North Norfolk Coast AONB.

Binham Priory is a masterpiece in terms of monastic ruins and is located in its complete form along the stunning Norfolk Coast. The priory is steeped in rich history, having been founded in 1091 and being home to a Benedictine community of monks for 400 years. Feel free to explore the grounds and get lost in its architecture and history.

Great to watch the trains. You might need the stop on the bridge as its a bit of a climb from here.

Closed for restoration work as of Aug/Sept 2023, but you can still view from the car park. Baconsthorpe Castle is a moated and fortified 15th century manor house, that are a testament to the rise and fall of a prominent Norfolk family, the Heydons. Over 200 years, successive generations of this ambitious family built, then enlarged, and finally abandoned this castle. Sir John Heydon probably built the strong inner gatehouse during the turbulent Wars of the Roses period, and his son Sir Henry, whose memorial can be seen in Baconsthorpe Church, completed the fortified house. Binham Priory is among the most complete and impressive monastic ruins in Norfolk. This Benedictine priory was founded in 1091 by Peter des Valoines, a nephew of William the Conqueror. Many of its priors were unscrupulous and the history of the priory is one of almost continuous scandal. The nave of the priory church, with its splendid 13th century west front and fine tiers of Norman arches, is now the parish church, and displays the former rood screen with medieval saints overpainted with Protestant texts. One doesn't see many castles being built these days, but this one is well under way.

Here lies the ruins of the 15th century fortied Baconsthorpe Castle, complete with moat, which was once home to the Heydon family. Part of the property was converted for use as a textile factory, while the later addition of the turreted gatehouse was lived in until the 1920s. Wonderful park with ancient pines, oaks, beeches, sweet chestnuts and rhododendrons

Weybourne is the only intermediate station on the North Norfolk Heritage Railway. It's been carefully restored and houses a small souvenir shop, railway bookshop, buffet and toilet facilities. There is a footbridge over the tracks to watch the approaching trains. You can also get a great view from the roadbridge, but it's very narrow for passing traffic.

Depending on the year, the best time to visit to see the rhododendrons is end of April to mid June, with the show peaking at the end of May. Arrive early to avoid the crowds! If you time it correctly, then you can also see the bluebells on the footpath near Weybourne train station

This is a slightly tapering tower with Y tracery in its belfry openings. It dates from the late 13th / early 14th century, but was rebuilt from the first floor upwards in 1886/7, though possibly the belfry stonework was re-used. It is circular all the way up and has a battlemented parapet. The nave west wall shows the width of the earlier church as it still has its ferricrete quoins showing within the wall, though the church was widened in the 13th century. This old part of the wall also includes much random ferricrete. The south nave wall is rendered with plaster, but the other walls show their flintwork. On both sides the nave has pointed windows with a quatrefoil in the apex, either side of a larger Tudor square-headed window, to let in more light. The chancel has an attractive east window with “butterfly” tracery. The south porch had an upper room, known as a “parvise”, but its window is now blocked. The face of the porch is covered with white flints and there is a gable cross. The present tower arch is Tudor, dating from 16th century.
