Wonderful place, we come here at least once a year.

In principle, a nice idea for braving the tide and thus the lack of water at low tide. It's just not for cyclists passing through, as reckless, selfish cyclists have managed to push their bikes during the bathing season by ignoring the rules, so that bicycles are now completely banned from the areas around Büsum where you can see the water (or rather, the mudflats). According to my information, violating this ban is supposed to result in severe penalties, as the 'beach patrols' immediately call the police if a bicycle appears near the shore. They made an exception for my folded Brompton… 😉

It's nice that there's a place to park your bike behind the dike to visit Perlebucht for swimming, sunbathing, or strolling. But that's no use at all if, for example, you don't have a lock with you or you just want to explore the beach and sea off Büsum by bike. By ignoring the rules regarding pushing your bike during the bathing season, reckless, selfish cyclists have ensured that bicycles are now completely banned from the areas around Büsum where you can see the water (or the mudflats). According to my information, violating this ban is punishable by severe fines, as the beach patrols immediately call the police if a bicycle is seen near the shore. They made an exception for my folded Brompton... 😉

Fortunately, the route is a place where you don't have to pay an 'admission' fee to enjoy the view of the common sea, and you can even take your bike along the paths in front of the dike. You don't even have to push it! Yes, there's a hint of frustration with the cycling policy on the North Sea coast here... 😉
