Founded in 1107 by William d'Aubigny, the butler to King Henry I, Wymondham Abbey was once a thriving monastery. However, it was closed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII, with the abbey officially surrendered to the crown in 1538. Today, the building serves as an Anglican parish church.

There are two cycle paths, in it is better to take to the segregated into town on Newmarket Rd. in Winter there will be ice, and you fall off!!! (I did... twice)

A short distance from the main market square area, on the edge of the town centre. Howard's Cycles is handily just a few yards further down the road if you're in need of any spares or repairs.

Has that curious thing of being impressively intact at one end but partially ruined at the other. Very grand for a parish church!

Wymondham is a gorgeous market town in South Norfolk that dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period. Known as a centre for woodturning and brush-making, many of the factories of Wymondham were still in action until the late 1900s.

Upgraded a lot in recent times with a large, partially covered decking area overlooking the water and a bicycle-shaped fountain in the lake!

Wymondham is an historic market town, having more listed buildings than any similar-sized town in Norfolk, including the 17th C. octagonal market cross.

Lots of choice of eating and drinking within Norwich Market Place. From coffee and tea to beer, simple fruit and veg, shellfish to top quality street food. All with the huge bonus of not having to lock up your bike as you buy your goods.

This is a must cycle stop... I will be back a lot, even through winter, this is a perfect 33mile round trip
