Great spot for a quick loop while doing off-road riding, the lake links up really well to some nice singletrack and Pit top runs

The Church of St Peter is found at the west end of the village of Letwell, near Rotherham, in South Yorkshire. The church was built around 1375 by John Mauleverer, but has been substantially altered several times. Much of the church was later rebuilt in 1820, at the expense of Henry Gally Knight FRS, the owner of Firbeck Hall, but was largely destroyed by fire a few decades later. The tower, along with the vestry are all that remain of the church following a fire which occurred in 1867. The fire was inadvertently started by one Harry Radley, who was sexton at the time. In response to complaints from the parishioners that they were too cold, he had over-stoked the coal-fired boiler which led to the fire. The church today consists of the 14th century tower with a Victorian nave and apse. It is Grade II* listed.

An octagonal red-brick 18th century dovecote, which was restored by villagers in the 1980s.

Langold Country Park was originally planned as a country house and park in the 18th century. The idea was revived in 1818 and although the house was never completed. By the 1890s a lake had been excavated and a weir with a single arch bridge had been constructed. During the early 20th century the area was developed for mining and the park became a leisure facility for the Langold miners, principally for fishing. In 1946 the coal mining industry was nationalised and the National Coal Board expanded the leisure facilities in the park. A lido or swimming pool was rebuilt in the early 1950s and a bandstand was added. In 1968 the mine closed and the park was taken over by the local authority. Mining equipment was moved and children's playgrounds and refreshment facilities were added.

Mind your step. water isn't too deep if you do happen to slip.

This tunnel entrance was originally made in the medieval period. The tunnel continues several metres into the bank wall below water level of Laughton Pond, its other end is not visible. A channel from the tunnel links to the river flowing through Roche Abbey. It was probably adapted as a landscape feature of Roche Abbey in the scheme carried out between 1774 and 1777 by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown for Lord Scarbrough.

The Stepping Stones are quite steady but easier to negotiate heading away from the Abbey

Covering 300 acres of parkland and a Local Nature Reserve, the park links into Dyscarr Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest recognised as one of the best examples of a limestone ash-wych elm wood in Nottinghamshire. The park itself has woodlands, wildlife and butterfly meadows, grassy area, a lake, play areas, cafe and skate park, making it a great year-round day trip for all.

Great mix of cycle path and singe track around the lake - a very pleasant place to ride a bike. No cafe or toilet facilities by the lake, but a fine spot for a picnic or a paddle.

Lonely tree, nice quiet area leads to a forest and housing estate

Nice little waterfall in which if you have a good filter you can use but be careful.

Hiking Path goes around the grounds and into the fields. Small car park is available but can get boggy in adverse weather.

Great place to stop and eat a sandwhich. You have to pay to get inside, but there is a large field round the back where you can see pretty much everything.

Man made water fall near roche abbey, not the prettiest but if your near by worth a look. there are stepping stones to get to it.

Good conditions all year for mtb routes.

A bit of a hidden gem. The ruins of a Cistercian Monastery founded in 1147. There are some extensive woods nearby and you can do some fab walking loops from here. There is parking here too.
