Built in 2001 for over £4m, the York Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Ouse in York, England. It connects New Walk to Terry Avenue, south of the city centre, and is part of a popular circular walking route. The bridge was designed to shorten the walking and cycling routes for people in the South Bank area of the city to the University of York and the city centre. If you are a pedestrian, then keep your wits about you. Cyclists will not give you any room and will not slow down either.

Go into the village and visit the whiskyshop.

The remains of this Augustinian priory include a gatehouse adorned with the De Roos family heraldry. You can also learn about the priory's role in World War II, including Winston Churchill's secret visit and its use in training and testing for D-Day.

The bridge over the River Ouse features a single leaning arch with cables fanned out like bicycle spokes, symbolizing its purpose as a key link for walkers and cyclists.

The last time I used this was the 17th April and it was very muddy in the woods as previously mentioned but it was also a mudbath after the open section across the farmland nearer to the buildings

Quite a bumpy track in the middle section. The top/north side in the woods had a bit that was unpaved and very muddy. Suitable for the gravel bike.

The incredible ruins of Kirkham Priory are located in the village of Kirkham right next to River Derwent. This was an Augustinian priory, founded in 1120 by the Lord of Helmsley (who also founded Rievaulx Abbey). The site is maintained by English Heritage and you will need to pay to get in, it's definitely worth the entry fee though. An unmissable experience, particularly if you are into history like I am.

Great bike shop, everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. The mechanics are knowledgeable so I definitely would recommend it if you're nervous about leaving people to repair your bike.

Built in the early 2000s this bridge is now a York staple. Very popular for cyclists and runners using the river Ouse for exercise.

Fantastic and cycling friendly cafe in the middle of Pocklington. Outside space to sit if it's nice and plenty of places to stack your bike.

You will need to look at opening times as during off season it is not open.

The screenshot shows red arrows to the entrance from Heslington Road, head south, there's a short climb then a nice downhill track to the main path

There are drinks/snacks available at the small shop within the entrance of the Priory.
