The remains of this Augustinian priory include a gatehouse adorned with the De Roos family heraldry. You can also learn about the priory's role in World War II, including Winston Churchill's secret visit and its use in training and testing for D-Day.

Awesome views, an unmissable highlight. An interesting monument, known as an aedicula, stands at Jerry Noddle, which depicts a sculpture of a winged sheep made by sculptor Fiona Bowley. Commissioned in 2020 during the national lockdown, its 14th century armour represents protection against the Covid pandemic.

Free parking with access to toilets and a cafe in the courtyard, cafe a little expensive. it's also possible to park up at the woods off the Terrington Rd which save having to use the fast road section from the obelisk

Major junction of Rudland Rigg running broadly north-south and the Lyke Wake Walk running broadly east-west. West takes you past Round Hill to Urra Moor and the car park at Clay Bank, east follows the disused Farndale Railway. Most of the tracks around this location are very wide and easy walking.

This might just be one of the best views from a road in the entire North York Moors, particularly as you really might not see it coming! "Hidden" on the northern end of the village of Gillamoor, just past the church, is this incredible sweeping view of the moorland of Hutton Ridge and Spaunton Moor. You simply have to stop here!

Bloworth Crossing used to be a railway crossing. The railway line (carrying iron ore) ran from Battersby to Rosedale for 11 miles. These days, it is a cycling and walking/hiking heaven. Easy, comfortable tracks to ride on with preposterously beautiful views in just about any direction your heart directs you to look at!

A very comfortable tarmac stretch for a few kilometres on Dalby Forest Drive between Red Dike and Bickley Gate. An opportunity for smooth, fun and joyous pedalling in between the trees with relatively little traffic in the summer to barely any in the autumn and winter months.

This forest is in a dark skies area too, so there are two observatories here hosting stargazing events from time to time. An obvious place to make a stop on your Tour, particularly if you need some good coffee and much-desired flapjack!

Great is the call of the village of Thornton-le-Dale, often considered one of the prettiest villages in Yorkshire. The thatched cottage, called Beck Isle, next to Thornton Beck, is a Grade-II listed building. There's also the beautiful All Saints' church on the eastern end of the village. Thornton Beck runs alongside the main road, a pretty spectacle in itself, and the pond in the middle of the village is a pretty sight as well. There are places to eat and drink here, so you won't go hungry, either. Make sure you stop at this beautiful place. It's worth it!

This area is a dark skies area, and so there are two observatories here hosting stargazing events from time to time! An obvious place to make a stop on your tour, particularly if you need some good coffee and much-desired flapjack.

Dalby Bike Barn is an all-things-bike centre right here at the heart of Dalby Forest. You can rent bikes here to then go on the many trails in the area, and also get expert bike advice and get your bike repaired. The shop also does guided rides and skills courses.

A wonderful, forested track through Thornton Dale on the eastern side of Thornton Beck. Mostly flat, with beautiful green (or yellow and orange in the autumn) all the way through. Just a good place to cycle: peace, quiet and pure leisure.

This is a relatively new track running on the west side of Thornton Beck in Thornton Dale, designed for walkers, runners and cyclists. Flat, tarmac and extremely comfortable. Fabulous to use in any weather, and the dale is pretty in any conditions, so it's a joy.

"Slack" means a depression between hills. This one is a lovely area to cycle in: green, forested tracks, excellent surface even in wet weather and very peaceful. Incidentally, this junction here was Trackrod Rally Yorkshire 2023 (car racing).

The straight and wide forest road between Red Dike (north) and Givendale Head Farm (south) is a joy to cycle on: comfortable, with space for bikes side by side. It's worth stopping near the farm to look across the fields east: in the summer months, the vivid yellow colour of rape seed is amazing, contrasting with the green slopes of Trouts Dale beyond it.

Straight and straightforward forest roads and tracks here - crossing a number of riggs (ridges) such as Housedale Rigg and Sutherbruff Rigg. Easy and pleasant cycling.

It's a very impressive view of Broxa Forest and Langdale Forest from Jerry Noddle. The sculpture is quite impressive, too, and there is a bench provided, too, for good measure!

A beautiful picnic spot here, with terrific views, and even a place to park your bike. Wonderful views over Langdale (spot the Fylingdales RAF Station in the far distance!) from here.
