Prestvannet and the surrounding parks are a popular destination in Tromsø, both summer and winter. The lake boasts a rich birdlife of ducks, gulls, and other birds, which is why parts of the lake are protected during the breeding season. The lake is located on Tromsøya, 96 meters above sea level, and covers an area of approximately 30 hectares.

At the end of August 2025, the trail was so rough that it was practically impassable by bike. I had to carry my bike in places. Narrow, slippery wooden boards and large boulders on the trail make the passage difficult even for hikers without bikes.

There is a bathroom with heating. Otherwise no facilities for your ferry wait on this side.

Gravel path that takes you right out into the wilderness. The path is pretty remote at times, but the views and the wildlife are worth it.

Stunning road in the valley: ride fast and enjoy!

On the way into Tromsø, the bridge from the island of Kvaløy is the last big hurdle, but also a highlight. The gradient is quite steep for cyclists. You can read the wind speeds on the bridge on a display. Gusts can be a challenge for cyclists and trucks. In strong winds it is better to push. From the bridge you have a view of the west coast of Tromsø island. You see the airport with the large shopping center. The inside launch is on the other side of the ridge in the north of the island.
