At 1,604 feet (489 m) above sea level, Klukshaug is a fine vantage point above Balestrand. It features on the Balestrand Up race, which goes from the Kviknes Hotel to the top of Raudmelen, quite a way above yet!

You can drive up a good distance (the road is easy to drive on). Then you come directly to the start of the exciting hiking trail. It is still 2.4 km to the historic Hochalm. Simply beautiful, it's worth it!

A beautiful bathing area with a fine sandy beach, shallow, clear water, a picnic and sunbathing area, public toilets and an outdoor shower. the bathing area is separated from the rest of the fjord by stone walls, so there is no particular risk of undertow and waves. Unfortunately we didn't have bathing weather, but a real highlight when the weather was nice.
