The Oudenaarde Beguinage has been a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city since 1449. As soon as you step through the Baroque gate—topped by Saint Roch, the plague saint, showing his leg—you enter an intimate world of white houses, blooming courtyards, and centuries-old stories. The courtyard comprises some thirty houses surrounding two tranquil courtyards, some of which date back to the 17th century.

Kwaremont is a charming artists' village on the slopes of the 111-meter-high Kwaremontberg. Since the 1940s, artists have been inspired by the village and the surrounding landscape. Today, you'll still find several galleries here. The whitewashed St. Amandus Church, with its neo-Baroque altar and 17th-century artwork, is also highly recommended. And if you're hungry, enjoy French-Belgian cuisine in a warm, welcoming atmosphere at restaurant 't Monument.

The Sint-Pietersbos is the eastern extension of the Muziekbos. This former private forest covers over 52 hectares. The Muziekbos (50 hectares) was almost completely clear-cut during the First World War, but the Sint-Pietersbos was preserved. It boasts a unique collection of old summer oaks and American oaks, beeches, and ash trees, all 150 years old. (City of Ronse)
