This café/restaurant is now (February 2026) called "La Géronstère." The spring of the same name was unfortunately still when we passed by, but work is being done on it.

A place full of history with a magnificent terrace where you can have a drink or a bite to eat before continuing your walk.

The Pouhon Pia is a natural mineral spring in Spa, located in a wooded area about 150 meters northwest of the Chemin des Fontaines, which connects the source of the Géronstère with those of Sauvenière and Groesbeek. The spring is situated on a small stream, the Ruisseau des Pendus, near the Fagne de Malchamps at an altitude of approximately 435 meters. At the site of the spring stands a small stone fountain from the Géronstère source, installed after a fire in 1893. This fountain building is semi-cylindrical in shape, and there is a nearby shelter.

A cross erected in memory of Jacobs—not so much a monument in the classical sense for commemorating war or victims, but rather a tribute to the painter and his connection with the landscape.

The memorial includes the following inscription: “TO THE EVERLASTING MEMORY OF … WHO LOST THEIR LIVES HERE ON ST. GEORGE’S DAY 23-4-44 AT 1 H 20 A.M. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY.” The names of the seven crew members are listed, including: • F/O P.C. Milburn (RCAF) • Sgt. J. Palfrey (RAF) • W/O N.W.E. Burdett (RCAF) • F/O B.B. Ashley (RCAF) • Sgt. S.W. It commemorates the crew of 550 Squadron of the Royal Air Force (RAF), whose aircraft—an AvroLancaster I ME581 BQ-D—was shot down during a raid on Düsseldorf on the night of April 23, 1944. For hikers and history buffs, it combines nature experience with a glimpse into the wartime past—making it doubly interesting.
