Not a very smooth rolling track

The Arquennes Swing Bridge is a metal swing bridge over the old Charleroi-Brussels Canal in Arquennes, a sub-municipality of Seneffe in the province of Hainaut. The bridge is actually a double-deck bridge, with a raised fixed section for pedestrians, and a movable section at street level for car traffic. The car bridge rotated on its horizontal axis in the middle of the canal, creating two passageways when the bridge was open. The bridge was classified as a site on 7 November 1978 and classified as a monument on 4 August 1989 by the province of Hainaut. Because the old canal was replaced by a wider canal and the Ronquières inclined plane took over the function of the many locks on the old canal, the bridge has become a fixed structure and both the pedestrian bridge and the central pontoon in the canal have fallen into disrepair.
