The Reduit has a strikingly shaped brick barracks with a courtyard and a fighting platform at the top. A wooden drawbridge over the dry moat provided access to the Reduit. In Fort 4 the retrieval mechanism has been exceptionally preserved. On the enemy side, an inner glacis, a sloping slope in the courtyard of the fortress island, protected the Reduit. Anyone walking through the dry moat around the Reduit could be shot at from the Reduit, but also from the counterscarp. Because under the inner glacis there was a series of about 70 cannon cellars

Bicycle points are social economy initiatives that want to promote the use of the bicycle in combination with public transport. That's why you'll find them at train stations in the first place. In Mortsel there is a bicycle point at the NMBS station Mortsel Oude-God. The Mortsel-Boechout-Hove-Kontich-Lint-Edegem bicycle point is operated by vzw Werkmmaat, a social economy company. They employ people who have difficulty finding their way in the normal employment circuit. With the bicycle points, both cyclists and disadvantaged groups win.
